# Why aren't attachments loading to my excel document template?

Excel is limited in terms of rendering of rich text content, so the templating language for rich text content ({~~renderedContent}), which works in Word doesn’t work in .xls files. If you would like to render attachments or rich text content we recommend using a .docx document template.
